Mystery Quilt 2025

detctive mickey pix_edited.jpg

Our Quinobequin/Sew N Sew Mystery Quilt for 2025 will be completed in five parts: four sewing steps and one for assembling the project.

Project guidelines:

  • The quilt finishes 42” x 54” without a border, a perfect comfort quilt size

  • There are seven different component blocks

  • All the component blocks finish 6” square

  • All can be cut with Accuquilt dies

  • All are simple to assemble

Fabric requirements:

  • I used three shades of one color, one “color pop” and a light background

  • For clarity I have named the colors instead of giving values – navy, cornflower blue, medium dark aqua not light aqua and a color pop of tangerine. The background is a variety of whites or lights such as pale pink, yellow, light blue, etc. I have used stash fabric and don’t have big pieces of white/light so I used a different but similar shade for each component.

  • I have added a “goof strip” of the largest strip of each color just in case so you are sure to have plenty of extra fabric. Or, you can go wild and find stash fabric in each value and shade.

  • Measurements are based upon 42” wide fabric

  • Use a quarter inch sewing foot with a 2.0 stitch length

  • Dark (navy) = 1 ½ yards

    • Note, this includes binding 2 ½” strips or border of 3” strips. o If adding a border, your quilt will need backing wider than 42”

  • Dark medium (cornflower blue) = ¾ yard

  • Medium (dark aqua) = 2/3 yard

  • Color pop (tangerine) = ½ yard

  • Light (white or combination of lights) = 2 ½ yards
